Living in Fellowship for Eternity
Nikki Robbins, teacher
A new vibrant Sunday School class full of love and acceptance.  Currently, the class is studying the Purpose Driven Life.  Please come and join in our lively discussions. The purpose-drive life helps readers understand God’s incredible plan for their lives. This book will enable you to see the big picture of what life is all about and begin to live the life God created for you to live. We are planned for God’s pleasure, so your first purpose is to offer real worship. We were formed for God’s family, so your second purpose is to enjoy real fellowship. We were created to become like Christ, so your third purpose is to learn real discipleship. We were shaped for serving God, so your fourth purpose is to practice real ministry. We were made for mission, so your fifth purpose is to live out real evangelism.

John Wyant Bible Class
Bob Moss, teacher
Joan Blair, co-teacher
The class name was adopted about 55 years ago.  John Wyant was Jolliff’s first full time minister.  Our class membership contains adults that are mature with a youthful spirit.  Our Christian faith and fellowship is shared through bible study, social gatherings and through missions in the community.  This Sunday School class takes a very active role working with the church’s annual fish fry – which is now twenty years in the making.  We also always remember our shut-ins with visits, flowers and gift baskets.  We are avid supporters of Jolliff’s scholarship fund and we also provide food baskets to families in need.  Our monthly meetings are to plan our goals and have social community time with one another.  The spiritual strength we gain by our friendship and Christian love makes our class worthy to belong. We welcome all who want to be a part of our class.

Faith Journey Class
 Mike Gordon, teacher
Carrie & Jeff Houck, teachers

The Faith Journey class was founded while Jolliff was going through a little “growth spurt” as a number of new families joined the congregation in the early 1990’s. The name was given by our pastor at the time, Rev. Ben Hadley-Goggin, to describe the course of study we were undertaking at the time and, after that, the name just stuck!

This is an eclectic Sunday School class, open to adults of all ages.  Our study themes vary from examinations of specific books in the Bible, Biblical themes, and Biblical history, but at the core of our conversations is the issue of “Christian living in the real world.”  Intermingled with that, we discuss the concerns of stresses of the workplace, raising children (and grandchildren), dealing with aging parents, relationships as couples, relations as singles; you name it.  We share a lot of laughter in our group and we laugh most heartily when we are laughing at ourselves. We share the leadership role between our members; practically all of us have led the study discussions at one time or another as we are called the Spirit (or each other)!  Our current study examines the similarities and differences of our Christian faith from that of others.  We expect this topic to last to the end of the calendar year. Don’t be a stranger to the Faith Journey Class!  We welcome everyone as we meet in the “Upper Room,” just to the right at the top of the stairs in the sanctuary building, at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday.

Jim Karnes Sunday School Class
We are the Jim Karnes Sunday School class.  We meet each Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.  Our class is open to all church attendees, whether you attend on a weekly basis or intermittently (we welcome all guests).  We study the word of God from the bible and books on faith.  Our journey as a class is to come to understand how our faith can sustain us, how our faith can enlighten others, and how our faith can enable us to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.
Our class is names for the late Jim Karnes, a man who modeled to us the faith of God’s promise.  Jim was a retired Methodist minister, a retired airborne ranger, and a tireless student/teacher of the martial arts.  Many were touched locally by Jim’s martial arts teachings at the YMCA and Karate for Christ events.  In all of his teachings, Jim combined the strength and concentration of the martial arts styles with a fervent testimony of God’s love and promise.
Jim battled Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) for eight years with a determination that left everyone astonished.  He taught martial arts classes while taking chemotherapy.  He taught our Sunday School class right up to the very week he passed.  He was a determined warrior on the battlefield, he was determined warrior in life, and he was a determined warrior in service to God.  Come and join us as we strive to model Jim’s faith.
